What Is PPWR?

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), formally Regulation (EU) 2025/40, is the EU's comprehensive overhaul of packaging rules. It entered into force on February 11, 2025, and generally applies from August 12, 2026, replacing the old Directive 94/62/EC.

Unlike the previous Directive, a Regulation is directly applicable in all EU member states without national transposition. Whether you export to Germany, France, Italy, or any other EU country, the rules and deadlines are identical. Chinese manufacturers shipping to EU customers — including the sealing tape — fall under PPWR jurisdiction.
